Hi

I've been offered a pair of EC36 forks but the crown where the brakes sit are set up for v-brakes and I want to use cantis. Looking at the fork, it appears that the crown can be unbolted so is it just a matter of getting a new crown for cantis?

Thanks

To my knowledge, it isn't the crown but the leg braces/bridges that you will need to change. It may be that you have the right bridges, but the rear one is missing the canti rocker. If you have carbon braces, you can't run canti brakes unless you change them for ones that take a canti rocker or the rarer front mounted canti brace.

Yes I meant the brace. Currently they are owned by a bike mechanic and he said that the brace is setup for V's only and the whole brace would need to be replaced if it was able to, so I can swap the brace out?

Yes indeed, though depending on which model of ex36 you have will define whether you need a new brace or just a canti mount for it. Any pics as could help more.

Although this is an anything-goes kind of website, may I just make the point that it is not period correct to fit cantis to an RC36.

V-brakes pre-date the RC36, and by the time the RC36 came out, only a very tiny die-hard minority would have thought cantis superior. If Pace designed the RC36 for V-brakes and not cantis, it is little wonder.
