The disc mount and clamps were originally designed by Pace and Hope to fit the 95/96 RC35 Monobox MXCD carbon leg, and also the 97 RC36. The profile of the carbon changed in 1998 on the RC36, but the inner profile of the shim remained as was which led to a cracked carbon if you were a bit heavy handed when fitting the clamp; never align the slots!!
The 99 RC36 Evo2 had a pair of iso style clamps, then in 2000 the magnesium dropout with integral disc mounts came out on the Evo3, neither of these carbon units are retro-fittable to the earlier forks.
Not sure when Hope brakes went to hydraulic but it must have been around 1996/7 i guess.
