And they have a 1" steerer. Also I am a complete novice but what difference does threaded & threadless steerer give?

Threadless / Ahead / plain streerer type forks are for clamp on stems with a top cap that adjusts the bearings -more modern style

Threaded steerers are for screw on headsets, and stems with an expander wedge or quill secured by a big old bolt right down through the whole stem The more old school style

A bike frame doesn't care what type you use but your headset and stem choices need to compatible...

Yes they are still here... if it turns out you are after a threadless (ahead) steerer, Pace's website sell these in their Retro Parts section and can be easily fitted to these forks with just an allen key

I have some RC36 MXCDs with 200mm 1 1/8 threadless steerer but am after 1" threaded for my 17" C16-R... fancy a steerer swap if RC35/36 steerers are interchangeable?
