Pace RC200 Chainstay Protector

I have recently acquired a Pace RC200 F6 which i plan to rebuild, its in generally good condition however the chainstay is missing the black protector and looks a bit tatty. Do any Pace owners know what the original protectors were made from so i can fabricate a replacement (I want to keep the original look as much as possible)

Also, has anyone got any photos of the Chainsuck plate or (even better) a template for one that i can use to make a replacement?

Many Thanks :)

A quick search and you get this pic from Bollox64 's Mint RC200 F1

I've got some spare RC100 ones but they look like they'd be no good for your RC200

hope this helps?

It does thanks, the RC200 does not have the little bridge between the stays, will post a pic when I get home :)

I made one for my F2 about 25 years ago and being a dumb arse I just screwed it on without any thought for copper slip grease or the potential for the screws seizing

Whilst being 100% home made it did the trick and all I used as a template was a thick bit of cardboard

Re:

By chainstay protector you mean the black plasticcy bit that sticks on?

If so I have one removed from a F8 that may be useful as a template.

Also have a chainsuck plate thing from an F3 if that's any good as a temple too.

Off grid for a few days but will catch up after the bank holidays

Old thread but just for the sake of posterity

Hi Gary,

I have the same issue with the chainstay protector. No longer there and the old adhesive looking tatty. Did you manage to get anywhere with a replacement?

Like you mention above I made my own - fitted it for a test ride and since it worked didn’t worry about it

Two years later and planning on making a neater job and polish it the bolts were seized in the rivet nuts and spun them, and so it’s stayed for 26 years, the 1996 running repair is now almost as retro as the F2 frame 😂
