one thing re. these steerers - my Pace, 1,1/8 and Manitou 1" steerers both fitted a treat today, thanks, and excellent how you made me a 1,1/8 version that fits straight into the Pace 1,1/4 crown without having to use a spacer (just a clever step down in the alloy steerer to suit :)

I rebuilt my Manitou 1s today and fitted them to an early Cannondale M500 with the 1" ahead steerer. Because these are nice light alloy steerers the inner diameter needs quite a small star nut to pull the headset assembly together.

Does anyone know where I can get a small star nut to fit an alloy ahead steerer?

With regard the star nut, you could carefully grind the outside down to fit the smaller steerer....

Thanks yes - that is what I intend to do - once i get my hands on some std star nuts in the week. I was just curious if anyone had a specific 1" alloy steerer product they know of.
