Pace hub RC-50 XC -> MT-Lock conversion?

Hi,
Was wondering if this is possible? The hub shell looks similar to me. Is it just replacing the axle and outer caps? BTW, any ideas when these hubs entered the market? I can find the "classic" RC-50 composite hub in the '93 Pace hardware catalogue, but I've no idea for the XC and MT Lock flavours.

Well, I don't have the XC flavour handy, but I did put my hands on a MT-Lock one. The axle is obviously different but the hub shell may be different too as XC model was spec'ed with 12x28x8mm 6001 bearings (by SNR from this eBay auction) whereas my MT-Lock comes with 15x32x9mm 6002 bearings (still by SNR).
