Correct ,he is on holiday in france,though i just got a call from him today ,so it seems he's back

very sorry, but yes I have been in Normandy for two weeks and have only just got back and finished emptying the car[!] so I have not checked my list of PMs yet but I am working through them from today.

Char; I have a tub of RC7 grease for you if you still need one. I will PM too.

Whatever you do it's best to avoid any grease that is for automotive use as they will possibly create problems with elastomers or bushings and seals within the fork.

I have serviced Pace forks that have been lubed with Manitou grease and found that it is so sticky that it reduces the performance greatly[and is a sod to remove]. Good for coating coil springs though.

Judy Butter was another grease similar to the RC7 and is good to use for stanchion/bushing lube.

Silicone grease is good for lubing seals but no good for elasto or
stanchion/bushing lubrication.
