Pace frame ID help please.

Re:

Cool! I really need to finish my F6...

AFAIK there wasn't/isn't any massive differences between the F3 and F4, the big changes were a bit more milling and round seat tube from the F3 onwards, then larger head tube when the F6 was introduced. The frame number may have helped, shame it took a whack at the vital area..

Anyroads, it looks like you have a good one, it's worth looking for any cracks as usual around the BB area if you haven't already. Should be nice for the summer

It's not a F3 as that has a square seat clamp, no canti rocker hole for the rear (just a canti hanger) and no hole in the NDS seat stay.

I'm ignoring the disc tab as could be after market.

Cheers for that, want to get rid of the disc tab but need new canti bosses. So we're saying F4 then. Takes a 1 inch steerer if that helps.

Perhaps its the way I'm reading your reply, but F2's and onwards don't have canti rockers so its a mute point your making there

the definative answer will be around when the sqaure seat tube was junked ifs that discounts F2's and also F3's as you claim, then on what model did V brakes come in and the canti hanger disappear

I'd be interested to know the answer as my knowledge stops at my F2

Regards to all

Nick

It's not the way you're reading, there looks to be a tab of some sort at the wishbone joint. My F3 I was looking at while writing doesn't.

I have no knowledge of F4, or F5 ... small amount on 7 and 8 (as the disc tabs changed during these two years)
that's only as I look for info about F3 (found feck all)
Other than the pace timeline there is oddly not a lot of info on these on this forum or searching the web.

Well V's came to market in model year 1996, so they would be F7 era. Disc tabs where getting added by then.

Re:

Could even be an F5 with F4 decals. It looks exactly the same as my early F5 (f518017) that one had the brake cable stops on the right hand side of the top tube, my later F5 had the brake cable on the left hand side of the top tube, the later (larger) brake mounts/posts & more seat stay clearance.
Didn't F4's have square seat clamps with a round seat tube?

Re:

Here's a picture of it's bum if that helps, think it might be an F4. Thanks for your help.
Would an XT build with canti's suit dya think?
Cheers

Re:

Looks like an F4 to me, that's the seat clamp collar I was thinking of that is squarer in the pinch bolt area.
