Cycle:Recycle

Devout Dirtbag
I am posting from Cycle:Recycle in Hebden Bridge.
We are a sub-project of the Alternative Technology Centre, Hebden Bridge.

We are an organisation whose profit is ploughed back into the project to train apprentices to Cytech Level 2 whilst we maintain a scheme to bring old bikes back to life and prevent cycles being taken to the Scrapheap. we look ro reduce waste wherever possible and encourage cycling.

We have a number of Older Specialist Cycles that we are listing for sale on RetroBike and this is the first:
It is an Overburys WildCat, 531 Frame 26inch Wheels.
Shimano Groupset, with Biospace rings, 2x6

Pretty straight apart from the bars which are quite rusty and the saddle which is very tired. All she really needs is an all round service plus bars and a saddle.
The frame size is small to medium:
Seat Tube CTT - 45CM
Top Tube CTC - 50cm

Here are some pictures:

£550 ONO

A clean, some better pictures and actually listing what the components are would all be great helps. ;)

Oh and you sure it's 2x6 speed, I count 3 rings at the front.

Lovely frame though.

Agreed it's a great project

Can I offer an input on your pricing? just to avoid a wrong sense of expectation and dissapointment more than anything

The best way to get a value is either through the what is my xyz worth thread

http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... start=3840

and/or looking through ebay completed and using this sites search to see what similar bikes have sold for

It's admirable that your saving old bikes whilst teaching others how to also but there is quite a difference between a finished project achieving a price and a wreck needing a total rebuild but asking for a good condition price

I'm sure anyone in here would be willing in here to guide and help you with any problems, issues and general builds and I wish you well for your future sales and project

Hi,

Thanks for the input below and here's a couple of notes from this thread so far:

It's 3x6 and not 2x6 as I had written.

A clean would be good, well...we could strip and rebuild the whole bike ourselves and then offer it for sale as a working safety checked cycle but we are quite busy with general recycling and making affordable bikes for folk. We have some quite expensive cycles, but they are generally slow to sell. Hence we need to create some cheaper lower end ones.

Obviously folk can offer or negotiate on the price, nothing's set in stone.

Thanks for the input though

Checking on price

BTW I did do all the usual EBay advanced search and google search but couldn't find much about this particular Cycle at all. So mainly I am basing the price around a similar frame only that sold on EBay a while back and that the old Project Manager said it was as rare as rocking horse poo.[/code]

..........

A clean would be good..I think most guys on here could strip and rebuild to a spec much higher than a 'working safety checked cycle', and we have some quite expensive bikes for sale....Recycling is for beer cans and wine bottles (empty of course!!!)

Sorting it out would be next to no bother for an outfit like yourselves. Beggars belief you would not want to make as much as possible for your charity with such a small amount of work.
