Keen to have a crack at the headset again now, but it's pissing down outside

Of course. Tried it tonight. Goes on a couple of turns, but no further, by hand.

Sure, if I got the big spanner out, but mechanical sympathy dictates not to do that

Tried with English thread and goes all the way on, by hand.

So, to summarise, I'm not going to use this campy headset

But fortunately the donor bike has a Tange g master waiting for me, so will have a little look at that next

So the Overbury fights back. G master headset stack height did not compute.....

So full circle turned and I've installed the DX set it came with!

Shimano headsets have very low stack heights which is very unfortunate if you want to de-shimano an existing build

On the up side means I don't have to root around too much for a spare crown race for the other forks, as I have a dx one in the spares box

new tyres on wheels today, and installed the bottom bracket, interesting suntour jobbie, cartridge but with lock rings to adjust chain line either side.

don't have the proper tools for this which is a worry longer term but greased it up so hopefully wont get stuck!
