Out of everything, what retro would you choose for a long term DAILY off road bike?

If you are going to ride it hard in all weathers and just leave it to dry off without wiping it down etc a DBR Ti frame would be a good choice. Id recommend a Wicked/Buck Shaver over a Yo for general riding as they are a more compliant ride. Easy to fit mudguards to etc and they are superb to ride as anybody who has actually ridden one for a period of time can attest. Bike shop employees ( often owners ) of a certain age just love FATs. They are very rare bikes in the UK which may appeal to your mindset. They were made to a very exacting frame building standard by a crew of legendary characters. I only learned last week that Reggie Jackson RIP one of FATs top welders had worked on an Anish Kapoor sculpture.

There is a rich history of spin-off artisans and companies, all offshoots of FAT CITY CYCLES and most of their bikes are still riding after almost 40yrs.

Sharp suck in of air through the teeth, nowt wrong with mass produced Taiwanese bikes or M&S suits built for Mr Average, if they fit.
