The good people of 2Velo have a copy online of a 1987 Atala catalogue. Your bike looks like a variant of the 'Corsa GS' frame set.

I will now try to understand why someone was trying to fake GIOS on that frame. But this will probably remain unsolved.

Ps. And now I have an headache in which colour I should repaint it.

The paint doesn't look bad at all and the metallic green is a rather nice color, IMO. You could just replace the GIOS stickers with an Atala set and call it a day.



BTW, if your bike rides anywhere near as nicely as mine, you've got a pretty good deal.

Thanks for a great tip! The picture above also proves that green fits nicely.
I’ve spend hours to service every single part of it and can say it rides suuuper smooth. And yes- I feel I got it for a good deal.
Do you have any idea how to check if it is Columbus steel? There are two options in Corsa GS.

The first thing to do would be to check the seatpost diameter, which will give an indication of the tubing used. Columbus would use a 26.8 or bigger size.

WRT the branding: if you found the bike in or near Germany or Austria it could also have been branded as a Gironelli. These were distributed by Neckermann, and were made by Rizzato. Also, there may be Maino bikes from that era with the same characteristics. Rizzato owned and used that name as well at the time.

you could check the interior of the frame's steerer to see if the helical ridges ("rifling") indicative of a steerer tube from A. L. Colombo are in residence

The metallic green looks in good condition & as has been said just put some proper Atala decals or if you feel like it get a full respray in the same metallic green.

The diameter seems to be less than 26.8
But I’m not sure if I’m measuring the proper place. Shouldn’t I measure the internal diameter of seatstay? It refers to the frame tubing vs seatpost which gives the value of the external element.

Nope. I was wrong. The diameter is exactly 26.8
I’ve measured it 10 times
