Hello,
I recently purchased a lovely (and very cheap) Orbit Harrier. It's the version with symmetrical rear triangle and caliper brakes. So more of an audax than touring.
Anyhow, it came with Shimano STX hubs and a 7 speed cassette. I assumed, when bidding, that it had a 130mm rear spacing. In fact I even suspected it might be 135.
Yesterday I took the rear wheel off to check and turns out the frame had been stretched and once the wheel is off the rear spacing is 125mm
So...is there a subset of bikes from a period when dropouts were already vertical but spacing was still 126mm?
Gotta say, it's bugging me a bit, if anything because the stays are actually quite stiff, and with mudguards and rack it's not easy to stretch them to fit the wheel...
