Last weekend, after 16 years of wanting one, I finally got hold of a Vit t2. I'm well chuffed! As I sit here wondering what to do to it I wondered if anybody could advise on a couple of points. The first regards the forks. It's a 94 or 95 model and I want to put some rigid era correct forks on it. I assume it has to be Pace but I couldn't tell the difference between an RC30 or a 31 if my life depended on it. Any tips? It currently has Pace RC36 proclass 2. What the hell are these, and if I sell them am I likely to get enough to cover the cost of the rigid forks?? I haven't got my vernier near to me either (it's in Manchester and I'm in Suffolk). Can anyone advise what the measurements of steerer diameter, seat post diameter etc should be? They look like 1 1/8th and 27.2mm to my eyes, but my eyes are knackered!!

The next thing is the wheels.....it has M950 hubs and the bearings are rough. I've never had m950 before and wondered what the bearings should cost roughly?

Finally, I'm looking for inspiration for components to pit on it. I feel that I should stay with British but I've always had Ringle, Cooks etc. I'm thinking Hope for wheels but I'm unsure what else was around in 94/5 that was British and any good. Did Hope do stem/handlebars/headset? What options do I have for cranks? All I can think are Middleburn, which I'm not sure I fancy.

Apologies for the post. It is a lazy effort to find what I want. I'm hoping some fellow vit t owners may wish to wax lyrically and post pics of theirs! Thanks in advance, Steve.

here's the build thread for my vit T2, very similar to what you are talking about

;)

mine had the brake cable canti mount on there rear so i fitted m900 xtr but if yours doesn't have it i'd recommend the m950 and v brakes like you have thought of. pace rc30's are steel legged as opposed to carbon like the rc31, that's what i used but mine is also a 1" headtube, i haven't checked the seatpost size as it had a use shim fitted already so i fitted a titanium USE post. i used hope ti glide hubs to keep the titanium theme gong as well as a titanium flexstem combo. i'm also running middleburn rs2 cranks and rings spinning on a GT titanium b/b unit. i think mine is mostly period ish correct.

gooodluck with your build :D

Cheers for the link and the advice, much appreciated. Love the build you've achieved, it's very similar to what I want I think.

I'm still no further on with this as I feelcommitted once I've bought the first part! One more question if anyone can help??? Can I get new transfers for it and if so, where from? Cheers!

jonnyboy666 gives sound advice above but for what it's worth:

- you want RC30s rather than RC31s as I strongly suspect that the latter will be too long for the frame (plus there are only a few that came with an inch steerer). The steerer is replaceable on the RC30s so you'll have should have no steerer related issues. I suspect your RC36s would cover the purchase of the RC30s.

- Orange F7 forks are alternatives to the Pace and likely came with the frame as standard.

- seatpost on mine is, from memory, 28.6. I use a shim and a 27.2 post.

- if there's a canti stop, use cantis. If not then use v's.

- decals can almost certainly be had from gil m on here.

Best of luck with the build, they are very nice frames indeed.
