Orange P7 Frame Weight

Re: the orange 1998 cat' states the frame weights for the
p7 is 2140grams
clockwork 2100 grams
O2 is 1680 grams
E4 is 1600 grams
VIT T2 is 1500 grams
and the X2 @ 2960 grams
Based on the 21" model

The 98 p7 weights per frame size are
15"-1880grams
17"-1950 grams
19"-2090 grams
21"-2140 grams
Reading the geometry between the clocky and the p7,there are no differences ,every measurement is exactly the same to the millimeter
The only difference seems to be the difference between their series 7.2 frameset on the clocky and the series 8 on the p7[ both frames are 'micro' butted]

I know that the new frames are much heavier....when did this change?
Was it the 2010 p7 that first moved away from series 8 and micro butting?

I think its much to do with going faster with more a case of holding on tight than technical picking through terrain :? Maybe beefing up to tubing wall thickness.
Sometime last year i bought the P7 Pure and was blown away by the weight. My '99 Clockwork frame and F9 forks weighed less than the P7 pure frame only.

I dont think it would ever want another Orange if it was modern(excluding full sus) but for HT, a turn of the century model would make a fantastic ride.

Yes I had one of the original nickel P7s many years ago.... I was young, slim and fit in those days but I have never ridden a bike since that fit me and I enjoyed riding as much since. I currently have a focus fat boy and before that I had a high spec Felt.... I have barely ridden either TBH due to being too busy, unfit and getting old mainly haha but I am looking at buying another P7 again.

Re:

I got an original nickel plated P7 eventually and in quite good condition with Lx group. I replaced cables, shifters, brakes, pedals and grips. I also fitted some Road tyres to give her a run out around the block.....awesome and knocks spots off my Focus despite being about 20 years earlier!

Weight might be in the archive :? Ive an old poster from i think '99, and on that is all the models, their full specc's including weights.

If nobody has supplied it by tonight, ill look it out.
Likely find if anything that later models would be lighter as more modern methods filter down.
Something like 1.7 or 1.8kg :?

Re:

Never weighed my bare 96/7 frame at the time unfortunately, but as people have said it was a touch heavier / more robust than the same era Clockworks etc - I prefer the 'heavier' feel of this than my old Prestige I must say :D
