Orange Dynamo Info Wanted

looks fine. Quite pleasing to see a name brand item at a reasonable price too.

Thanks again cce :)

I ordered the Cane Creek am going to order the Minimals later... and the carbon expander and the shim to fit the stem and the shim for the handlebars... Modern sizing is an expensive pastime.

On another annoyingly Dynamo-specific note... I still have the original Orange (not very) 'Lite' stick seatpost, it's a trademark esoteric 31.4mm diameter, I'd quite like to buy a black carbon replacement post but they're all 31.6mm... I'm guessing shoving one of these 0.2mm oversized 31.6mm posts into my 31.4mm Dynamo is a total no-no? I don't want to damage anything but can't imaging such a tiny size difference mattering?

... I'm sure someone will correct my naivety.

Right, I've got the Columbus Minimals (they are a beautiful fork), the Cane Creek 40, the stem and the new 31.8 bars...

I'm replacing the original threaded Shimano 600 headset with the threadless Cane Creek 40 (which arrived with no instruction manual), I was assuming that it was a job I could do myself fairly easily... However, looking at YouTube, and the PDF Cane Creek 40 manual online, it looks like a major job which requires major tools (headset press, etc... Even a facing tool according to the Cane Creek video!)

I thought I could just take the old one out and slot the new one in...

I'm pretty handy with most things and have built and rebuilt bikes and wheels for 20 odd years but is this job impossible? I'm loathed to take it to a bike shop but will do if push comes to shove. I'd rather not break anything...

Thanks again...

PS This is the Cane Creek video that struck fear into my heart...

it's worth doing properly. it wont cost a lot at the bike shop, but the tools will.

... Think I used a home made press and two pieces of wood to put my last one in, lasted 20 years so far... I think I'll take it to a local bike shop, if I can find any that haven't shut down... Both large local independent shops (Surosa and Saddleworth Cyclery) have gone into receivership in the last year or so.

Shame.
