Orange C16r 19" frame + Orange / MX Comp 1" forks

I think it's time to pass on my well loved Orange C16r frame. It's been well loved, has seen plenty of long rides and a good few races.

If you're reading this, I'm sure you know what it is, but the C16r was Orange's late nineties lightweight XC focused steel bike. The light responsive frame and well tuned geometry made them very popular. It has a good selection of Bottle Cage / Mudguard / Crud Catcher / Rack mountings. I bought mine around 1999 / 2000 from my LBS where it had been sat on the wall for some time and built it up with the 5-piece forks that are also for sale.

The frame is a 19" one (About 17" from BB to centre of top-tube) with a 22 1/2" effective top tube and a 12cm / 4 3/4" long head tube. It weighs 4lb 10oz / 2.09kg.

It's seen a good bit of wear in the past, it's stickers are a little jagged and the paint has plenty of typical mountain bike scuffs from use, parts being fitted and being packed into cars with other bikes. There are two notable bits of damage - the seat tube bottle bosses have come away from the frame where I carried a heavy battery and there's a dent in the bottom of the non-drive-side chainstay and a crimp opposite where I reversed the pedals to pack it in a bike bag then trusted a Heathrow baggage handler...

The frame is probably never going to make a museum piece, however it should make a very respectable commuter or build up as a bike to have fun on for those with fond memories of these frames. Includes shim for 27.0mm seatpost. £35 Sold

Some Mazocchi MX Comp forks with a post mount which were a later upgrade still. If I'm honest, these were a bit long for the frame and gave slightly lazy handling, so I generally ran them with extra sag. 4lb / 1870g. Includes fitted star nut. £45

Bump for the weekend browsers, also to clarify as I've had a few questions about the forks:

The outside diameter of the fork steerers are 1" with a 7/8" inside diameter. This fits what I've always understood to be a 1" headset, as confirmed by Sheldon Brown here:

These aren't all that common, mostly from mid to late nineties steel mountain bikes and most road bikes up to the late nineties.

1 1/8" Headsets as fitted as standard up to recently on mountain bikes had a 1 1/8" outside diameter, 1" inside diameter steerer tube, I believe. Hope that helps.
