Hi all

Just wondered if any Orange riders to help with a slipping seat post problem. I have a 17" frame with a Ritchey 31.4mm seat post clamped with a Hope seat pin QR but I am unable to stop it moving around?

Do I have the right diameter?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Thanks I'll have to get hold of a 31.6mm seat post. I only got a 31.4mm one because the original Orange Stalk Lite seat post was that size.

That explains why it won't clamp tightly. I thought it was an odd size. More manufacturers to choose from as well in 31.6mm.

Saying that the headtube/headset is an odd size on these frames 1 1/4 instead of the more standard 1 1/8. I had to use shim spacers.

Cheers

To save yourself buying a new post (although 31.6mm is a very common size) you could just shim it with a cut-down drinks can. ;)

Yep - headtube is 1-1/4, and starting o get quite limiting.. although if you keep your eyes open parts are available... :D

^ now and again 1 1/4 (evolution size) forks come up some NOS judy's were here only last week.

i like pace and orange (separate and together  ) and if you do want to go retro Pace forks have interchangeable steerer tubes. Forks come up prettty often and Tim at fork english (justbackdated on here = sorts / services / supplies for them :D )

Headsets in 1 1/4 are pretty rare (i got mine from steve above^) unless you fork out for Chris King - some of which are still available)

Stems in evo size can be a tricky find too! (expecially shorter ahead ones!)

cheers

WCS 31.6mm

Just bought a new Ritchey WCS seatpost size 31.6mm and it fits perfectly and no longer sinks during rides.

Thanks for all the advice and messages regarding this matter.

Still don't know why Orange supplied it with a Stalk lite 31.4mm post?
