Orange Aluminium Elite 1991

JESSER

Retro Newbie
I bought my Orange Aluminium Elite (I believe) in 1991, had a few years of fantastic adventures and then unfortunately put it in the garage and have barely used it since. I'd now like it to go to a good home, preferably as a refurbishment project, and so would like to advertise it on Retrobike. However I'm unsure how much to suggest; it's clearly in need of cosmetic work to return to the standard of some of the bikes on here, but mechanically it's in reasonable shape.

I've tried to highlight the condition of the frame in the photos. I'm firmly a "two wheels on the ground" rider and so structurally everything is sound, but there are many scratches and scrapes. The Pace RC35 need a full rebuild - the elastomers have totally disintegrated so have been removed - and the hubs and BB have not been touched for a long time. Everything moves freely but it has basically been sat in a garage. It's not a basket case, but I'm trying to be honest about the condition.

There are a few non standard parts including:

Pace chainrings
Pace front hub
Hope mechanical disc brake (very early example)
Action Tec titanium BB

I do not want to split into parts and so any advice you can offer regarding how to sell this as a complete bike would be appreciated.

Re:

I like that, some interesting parts.

Hard to say exactly what it's worth to be honest as Elite's can make quite a bit or go cheap. As I guide I've seen similar condition ones with less interesting parts go for £100/150 and have sold a mint example but once again with less interesting parts for £200ish.

If it was 2015 (When I'll have money again!) I'd happily pay £150/200 as it is. If you put it for sale on here you'll get an fair price. If you stick it on ebay you could make £250 but you could also see it go for much less.

From memory it's 19" - I'm a whisker under 6' and the saddle is where I used to ride it. I live in Warwickshire.

Thanks for the interest.
