oooft

This has always been my favourite. Firstly because it's a gif so you can see the whole majesty of it (from 2 camera angles  ) and secondly the bloke looks like a right prick doing it.

But there are others

Hmmm maybe not the best time to get a flat.....

Don't think those big tyres will help you there

At the risk of starting another helmet debate I don't think many non wearers would be doing that terrain at that speed. I know I wouldn't.

There are ways of minimising risk without resorting to polystyrene.

Agree. I've only hurt myself when doing stupid things or not thinking on the bike

Great pic's unless your the person having the crash

It all depends on your definition of "stupid things" though - after all, a large percentage of the population would say that simply riding a bicycle off-road is stupid enough.

In my opinion it's only stupid if you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that it's beyond your abilities and that the forecast call for pain if you cock it up and yet you still go ahead and do it.
Like me attempting a 25ft road gap or a 15ft drop to flat  The fact is though that something as innocuous as crossing a 12" diameter log or dropping a couple of feet into a river bed can catch you out - it's not always "big" stuff.

I actually love the photos of the top pro's crashing, as it shows they're fallible, literally. You very rarely see them printed in the press as the marketing teams and PR teams will pull them!

Bikes have been my primary mode of transport and recreation for 20+ years. The last time I came off must be 10 years ago- I remember it well just for the simplicity of it- steep grassy downhill, borrowed Klein Mantra with new fangled discs. I don't need to explain any further. :)

Speed control, awareness, road sense and knowing my limits has served me well enough. I know that if I put on armour and helmet my riding will change, I wouldn't be able to help it. I'd be thinking I was invincible, which wouldn't end well. I'll stick with what I know.
