Yes they appear to have achieved collector status and good ones fetch decent money now, there's been a few go for similar prices.

I can understand that. They were very popular for a time - probably helped by that deal when you could get an entire bike for around £400 in the early 2000s. Mine was my regular commuter for well over five years. Must have clocked up getting on for 20K miles on it. Unremarkable, but very reliable. Sadly, the bottom bracket rusted out on mine.

This is the new generation of retro I guess.
