On balance, I still am not a fan of e-bikes (previously known as ‘I just don’t get E bikes’)

Yes, I can’t understand why the bicycle ever developed from wooden wheels and single gears. I mean, why would anyone want to ride anything faster or easier.

In fact people riding bikes at all. They could walk or run, they don’t ‘need’ a bike. They just want to get from A to B faster and easier. Lazy buggers.

I just don’t get it.

Just an observation on my part, doesn't just relate to bikes! If you want an e-bike buy one, it's just another one of the umpteen variations of the bicycle to me. They just need a little more work on the reliability front in my opinion.

That’s exactly it, they’re just another variation on a bicycle. Certainly the restricted types we have in the UK anyway.

I’m guessing you own a ebike…….

No need to guess, I’ve said elsewhere that I do.

As a young(ish!), fully able, fit cyclist I sometimes choose to ride an e-bike. Why? Because it’s fun. Because slapping the motor on and riding lines faster and easier makes me laugh. Because sometimes i just can’t be arsed to slog up the hill but need to get a quick fix. Because I’m a cyclist and being out on two wheels, whether it’s my single speed, my retro bikes, my modern bikes or my e-bike, is my happy place.

2 wheels are most people’s happy place on here. Whether it be powered or pedalled.

Completely understand e-bikes are another type of bike but struggle to see how they are more fun when they weigh as much as a pedal n pop.

You view climbs as a slog?

If we talking mtb climbs that’s half the fun. Picking a line and using skill to hop , power and scramble up it. Any climbs less than say 30’mins should be easily dismissed by a fit rider
Or you can just do a clarkson style “power” and get the same result I guess.

Can’t imagine many downhill mtb lines can be ridden faster on a ebike as once past 15mph you are left with a heavy lump that isn’t flickable or much fun.

Certainly in the Peak District or any trail centre it’s not the ebike riders at the front on the “knarly”descents ……
