Old SPD's

I have a pair of the original Shimano SPD pedals which I am currently servicing (pics to follow) & have a question: Have the cleats changed in shape since they 1st came out or are these pedals still compatible with current SPD style shoes?

the original 737 black pedals werent designed for the current SH51 cleat. SH51 cleat was first used with the 747 silver, smaller pedal. thankfully shimano have kept the same SH51 cleat since then (aside from the 858 pedals & the multi release SH52, both of which werent great anyway)

Thanks for your replies chaps, I've finished servicing them this morning.

The cleats are in great shape, pretty much just surface rust & will be fine to use, I was just worried that the hole spacing in the shoes had changed but hopefully should be good to go

If anyone is interested in these for a retro build then lmk as I'd be happy to sell & run a new set instead...?
