There’s something that really confuses me in this ad. Why, on the front brake, is the little cylindrical stopper on the cantilever cable popping out about 15mm from the actual brake arm? How is the left side cantilever not springing out? Is it some sort of little pull to release the cantilever to take the tyre out and I just can’t see the other stopper?

I always thought that was to give you 2 options of length to alter leverage?

i.e. if the arms were lower down it would prevent the straddle from hitting the tyre.

This as was apparently in a magazine called Boys Life from June 1992

I had exactly the same bike as a 13 year old.
