What really annoys me is the same old questions being asked by newbies. Why can't they use the search function before asking? I post less these days, I have replaced quantity with quality.

Probably because unless you type the right search criteria you end up with thousands of returns and can't be bothered to trawl through them hoping you'll spot something useful :?:

It's the same with every forum I've been on. There's so many ways to search for each subject it's very difficult to pin down the info you need - unless you remember the words that were used because you were part of the thread in the first place.

What's really annoying is that it obviously includes people signatures as well so you get loads of results that are useless sometimes - just because someone has put the words in their signature.

It's up to the longer serving members to help out every time a question is asked, even if it's been asked hundreds of times before. I'm sure most people have been at that initial learning stage.

There is also an element of wanting to join in, which you don't do by searching on your own.
I asked a question on another forum and was told to do a search. I found two pages of threads asking the same question and being told to do a search.
I never did get an answer.
There's very little new stuff to talk about (especially on forums dedicated to old things) so after going round a few times I think some members just drift off.

I find that I've got less to say (or less of anything useful to say, at least).
I probably spend as much time on the MTBR singlespeed forum and STW as I do here but don't post much there either.
