Need advice or better maybe someone has personal experience with 2-1.5-2 cpokes on x517rims 36h? This rims is so light... 393 and 391 gramms.
My weight 62 kilos. This bike 90% is for city riding. Sometimes I can ride on gravel and quite aggressively without slowing down but this is very rarely. Pumping the wheels hard 55-65 psi with continental speed king 2.2.
Old araya rims amd shimano hubs is dead...

Advices?

Thanks

Re:

Sorry cant offer any advice but interesting questilon so had a quick read.

There was a 28g saving from 1.8mm to 1.5mm db spokes 64 @ 264mm but interesting they came with brass nipples. Presume using alloy nipples would reduce the weight more.

In my plans to use aluminum nipples.
Only one chose is to use 1.5 midlle section spokes or 1.8. I think realy may be you right and 1.8mm will be much safer. But i little bit not understand why with the same tension spokes with 1.5 midlle section less strong.

I am sure they ill be fine. It's not as if you will be jumping the bike. However if you are city riding anywhere with proper winters then avoid alloy spoke nipples. They will corrode and fall apart within a couple of years from road salt.

Personally I'd go with normal 2/1.8 DB spokes for reliability, especially as the bike looks like it is going to have a rack and load. It's not exactly as if it's a lightweight special!

The only thing I've found with 1.5's (my old an new wheels), it they dint a bit easier from other bikes pedals in the shed, back of the car etc.
Other than that, in 28 or 32 hole brass or Alu nipples, they last as long as any wheel.
I think I have M231's, XC717 & 395Team rims hooked up to them

hamster, FluffyChicken Thanks for advices. I talked with local shops bike masters. No problems with 1.5 if you not crazy jumping rider or you need goor hard rim for enduro. Mine rims is realy like XC. He said the 2-1.65-2 is great ideat too. Little bit stronger and easier to build wheel. Small difference in weight compared to 1.5, 1.65 little bit heavier.
