i've just decided that if i find the right fork at the bristol bike jumble tomorrow i might keep it for a bit

Mine too! Sold one last week got three in this week. Not sure how many that makes but I know I could change crabby pants mind about GT's if he only had 30 minutes to visit

Sanj - hi and welcome to Retrobike. The nature of your enquiry is pretty vague, which is why you're getting flippant replies. I'd be doing the same if I was in a less happy mood! Of course loads of people have old GTs; this is Retrobike! If you want to buy something, narrow your target down a bit to specific models, ages and size and put a post in the MTB Wanted section.
