Old Faithful - My 1995 Stumpjumper FS M2

great story and pictures, its amazing how all of us who have a passion for cycling and MT. Bikes of the 90's have come together. Nostalgia is a powerful thing isn't it? the Stumpjumpers from 91-96 were sheer bike porn for me in my teens and all the tech advancements during that time. Most of us during that time only had Mountain bike action magazine, life before the internet :) great ride and thanks for sharing!

Thanks!

You're right though! I still have boxes and boxes of MBA, Bike, Mountain Bike magazines... The adds for M2 stumpy's saying that "This bike used to be aimed at Moscow" and the like...

I remember drooling over this very bike as it sat in a place of honour in the shop window, the store owner's personal ride for the year... The disbelief when he offered me the frame'n'fork the next spring...

Sheer bike porn is right... Still sexy to me :)

Well, age and riding time is taking its toll.
Broke the freehub body this summer, second one on this hub. Replaced, NOS, no biggy.

Rear rim is about worn thru on the braking surface, and straightening it has become a regular chore. Sourced some NOS Sun 0d XC's, so I'll be building up the rear with that this week - the front can wait till winter.

BB shows the beginnings of play, so that'll go this winter too.

Onza Porc grips are going all soft and squirmy, so some new Specialized rubber will replace them this week.

Right now, the tires are Spec The Captain front and a CST rear - serviceable, but the Captain's profile is very tall, just buzzing the fork crown at full compression. The rear will be replaced again this winter...

Been a fun summer so far, exploring the hobby with my daughter on her Norco Katmandu.

How'd I ever let myself drift away from this stuff????
