That's the beauty of the decal eraser wheel. It's a mechanical removal system that won't damage the paint (just don't go too high RPM due to heat build-up). Has been used in Automotive applications for many years. The problem is, some of the more aggressive chemicals might attack the paint (whilst doing nothing to the decal foil, they just remove the dye). I was stripping a Kona frame with Aircraft grade paint stripper (pretty much the most corrosive chemical for this kind of stuff) and the paint stripper went to town on the paint, however the decals remained untouched (it just removed the dye in them but the transparent film was untouched). I had to go in with a decal eraser to remove the decals before continuing. Some decals just won't come off chemically...
