old decal glue-how to remove

Hi.just removed the old decals from some forks and its left behind this non sticky stuff that just wont come off.ive tried white spirit but that didn't work!
Anyone know the best way to remove it?

Decal rubber eraser wheel (in the electric drill). Works really well.

That's a real thing. Just google: decal eraser wheel. You can see videos in action. I've used it many times before (works best on old decals where the glue is all dried up).
Any Auto Parts Store should have those.

All you need is some Tar and Glue remover, spray on, wait, wipe off, its as simple as that.

White spirit should remove it.

Are you sure there is glue left and it is not the paint changing colour either by reacting witb the glue or faded?

I haven't tried it on metal, but mayonnaise is very effective for glue residues on plastic, wood etc.
