The appeal goes out ....just bought out of our local Trade It paper, nice shiny GT. Aluminium frame, bare and shiny...FLAT top tube end cap, NO visible serial number ( no sign of one being erased either ) 18 stamped inside dropout, removable mech hanger. Apologies for the ultra crappy pics, just couldn't wait

Looks like a Zaskar, but mine didn't have a serial number either. Well done - cost much?

Something that always confuses me, why are there so many decal-less Zaskars around, pretty much if you buy a bare alu paintless GT frame on the bay it turns out to be a genuine one.

And probably vice versa if you buy one marked up as a zaskar it turns out to be a dud.

Isn't it an LE with those dropouts - 1998ish? My standard 1998 Zaskar had a much bigger brace affair and plate dropouts.

Either a 98 LE or a 99 Zaskar which had the CNC dropouts .... Zaskar LE and Zaskar had CNC dropouts with Disc mounts

Excited update with a few more pics......

Work, bike , work, bike - so little time to tit about......Few more pics -lovely last light effect- chuffed that the concensus seems to be pointing Zaskarwards. £50. Well spent. :D

pretty sure that's a '96 zaskar le..

I have an identical one(although 20' frame) and have found through researching previously that the rear drop out on the standard zaskar doesn't have the two cut-outs..I may be wrong though
mine has the date stamp as 96 and has the same "linkage" underneath seatclamp thingie (not too good with the techie terminology)..
And unless i'm mistaken I've just bought this from you via ebay and it's winging it's way to manchester :D

Good buy that! You certainly wouldn't get welds that tidy on a lesser model.
I think the trouble with decals on the later models is that they're so thin they get damaged easily. Decals up to '97 seem fairly thick.

Time to get polishing!

Not hijacking this thread - lovely find this mate well done - but most GTs of that era have identical welds, my 97 Backwoods hasn't a burr or mark out of place on it's welds. Looks identical to this.

Anyway build it up lets see more pics :D
