OK going to ride a Stumpjumper FSR Elite on Thursday and have been offered the test bike in black for £1000 so £800 off the RRP. I know it will have been used but any thing worn will be replaced. Warrenty is not affected so the frame is still covered which is good. Got to be good for the money.....

How about a lapierre or a Giant? A colleague bought the giant (anthem?) xc/marathon bike and he loves it. It also won some bike of the year award recently - if you beleive that sort of thing.

Best thing to do is ride them and answer your question yourself.

Wor lass has a Fuel EX8, which hs the ebp thingy. Great bike, she loves it and it looks great. The FSR is the design i have always recommended. Either should be a great bike.

If forced to choose between the two you mention I'd go for the Specialized.

Not because I like them or anything but we've had 2 of the new Fuels in with cracked frames. :?
