Odd build spec Trek Y bike....

Odd build spec on this one. Picked it up yesterday for a steal, so for the record I am not bothered.
The chap insisted that he'd had it from new and I tend to believe him.
Thing is, Im fairly certain that the spec is more y22 than y33.
The forks are wrong as is the shock, it has some xt parts but not all, and the components seem more y22 too.

Though it's got stx rc shifters which weren't on the y22 or y33.

Is it possible from anyone's experience that the bikes were sometimes spec'd different or is it a possibility that maybe the frame is a warranty replacement??

I remember the Y22 was basically full LX will an XT rear mech and Judy XC. The Y33 was full XT with Judy SL and Trek System 3 kit. They did tweek the specs a little later on but I can't see the 33 frame having STX (even RC) on it as standard.

Just because he had it from new doesn't mean things weren't replaced when needed. Could just be that?

Yeh , I did think that, and in fairness a lot of time has passed since 1997
