NWA regional ride: Goyt Valley and Buxton
:: Date: Sunday 2nd September 2012
:: Distance/time: 16 miles - about 5 hours of riding, talking, eating pie and chips.
:: Meeting at: lay-by on A5004/Buxton Road just south of Whaley Bridge. Google map here: --> http://goo.gl/maps/mYBa4
:: Time: 10am for 10:30am start.
:: Terrain: Typical Peak district terrain with loose rocky climbs and descents. Much of the route is on quiet lanes and some well surfaced forest fire roads.
It was nearly two years ago that we original attempted this ride, but heavy snow meant a few changes to our plans. The ride still went ahead albeit slightly shortened due to failing light.
We probably ran out of time because we spent so long in the pie shop in Buxton.
There is an aftermath here which looks fairly epic: --> http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=130356
All welcome. Hope to see a few people there or thereabouts.
