This, new cats/kittens will never replace your lost loved ones, they will never take the pain away, but, they will help to ease it somewhat and will earn your love in different ways!
When i lost 'Mog' a couple of years back i was gutted, truly gutted, but if we didnt have 'Ziva' my current little 'pest' (lol) then the pain wouldve been much worse im sure, she didnt take it away, but she helped with it.

New additions can sweeten things up but, when you are ready. This isn't
determined by time either, you just get that strength and clearer thought later on, whenever. I read on that 'rainbow bridge' website that you can justify replacing the recently parted by..."Another less fortunate
sweet needs my love now" It does make for good sense if nothing else.
Better off spoke inside ones head though. To mime at the recently deceased will see you upset.

The site came recommended by one of vets that actually inters the departed animals. I wasn't strong enough to carry out a garden burial so i opted for a respectable cremation. I was sure(if not arrogant) to ask if the process was done with dignity and due care. "of course" was the reply. These are protectors of animals' health at the end of the day.
Poor old col' was 2.26kg from a burly 5.1kg in 2010(according to vet records). She was bloody ill, i had to get a grip!
Anyway, she came from RSPCA re-homing centre so my plan is to drop in with £20 or so worth of pouch wet food to give the next unfortunate inmates a peg up. It's what i want , not her, she would chase the poor things away if they came any near her tucker!

Started off with a big ginger tom called Jasper, then mindy and suzy. Then max who was unfortunately killed in his first few years of life not having the experience of main roads, this i find very sad indeed.. Mindy died that way too.
Its really hard to think on this. Really hard
My mum who is in her 70's now got another kitten. This is a ragdoll tabby but far from being all floppy and warm hearted, its a little nutcase
Unfortunately the wee soul(3 1/2 months old).2 weeks ago he jumped or tried to rather across the kitchen worksurfaces and fell , breaking one back leg at the hip. The result is the head of the femur was cracked, broken and displaced and we had no option but to remove it completely. So effectively the cat(Louie) has no ball joint now for the left socket. Vet says he'll get on ok and the muscle / tendon will grow to support that joint.
It looks like he will always have a limp and maybe arthritis later on Wee soul, hardly a good start in life but well make up for it . Cat toys will be coming thick and fast and well endeavor to keep the little fellow happy and content.
