Cheers guys - yes 'its only a cat' but wow, I didnt think I'd be so upset.

I'm worried about the missus too, I've never seen her so upset.

what a shame, as you say it just a cat but it is more than that. Mine went missing for 11 days last year in may and then got run over in oct - on both ocassions I blubbed more than for the hundreds that died in the tsunami and other disasters - but althought it is just a cat, it was somehting that toiuched my life whereas those people did not.

it will be hard at first but gets bettter - got a another cat?

here is a photo of my latest two (brothers) having a snooze.

Cheers guys.

Empty house, nobody nagging for food and nobody clambering up onto your lap come evening time.

But...

Other halfs beads were knocked off the table last night and this morning there were traces of cat litter and another box knocked over despite a locked catflap.

GHOST CATS!!!!

Feel for you, its hard with any pet, when we had our dog put to sleep at home was bad, and as the vet was a family friend he found it hard to do, and it was months before I stopped going straight to the kitchen after work to see him.

As for ghost cats, had an occasional visitor at our last house, both of us had thought it'd been one of our two to whizz past to then realize they were both asleep on the bed.

Re:

I really feel for you - just so sad. Hard to know what to say, really, as there's nothing that makes it feel any better - just time.
I dread the day that we will lose my beloved Sprocket - she's been through thick and thin with me for the last 14 years. She's now very arthritic, has renal problems, is deaf and, last week, was diagnosed as having the cat version of Alzheimers.

Re:

Jees man, I was welling up after the first post but really struggling now I've read on. Gutting I know, we had a brother and sister and Klaus the boy died just before he turned 1 and I cried like a baby, had to have a couple of days off work too. We got another to replace him as the missus was fed up with me being so sad, we called him Rocky. Then a couple of weeks later was told by the vet that Rocky was a little girl! Shes still called Rocky. It does help to get another, just so long as you don't forget them.

Gutted for you both. :(

Re:

I saw it was you and looked in, hoping for news of new arrivals. Do consider it. Nothing like a small bundle of fluff. Cat or dog.

really sorry to hear this news LGF. We've had our rescue cat for 18 months now and I don't know what I'd do without her
