Was round in my local bike workshop today and they had a rather sad looking Novy fixed gear mixte hanging up.

It looks decent quality, anyone know anything about them?

czech?

cheers ned, are they french BB's then?

standard 1" threaded headsets?

wouldnt mind it as a project, but could be a world of pain lol to strip down and rebuild.

With Belgian bikes it could be even a mixture. There was an influence from the south and an influence from across the water, or the north. So you'll actually have to check the frame to know.

There are a few Belgians selling on Ebay, some cheap some expensive. The advantage is that you can build it up with both French-style as British style parts.

It looks like a wire wool and powder coat job.

My only worry is seized parts and weird parts like headsets and BB, that can be a nightmare to source.

Can you buy NOVY decals?

Picture of my 1968 Novy.....It's nice for a summer days ramble...........

this one is a weird version of a mixte and is a fixed gear. It's cranks look a bit like the ofmega cottered cranks on my carlton.

looks all original, rust galore though.

theres very little on novy bikes anywhere it seems.

ive found 2 red road bikes one on lfgss and one in japan besides yours.

theres two agent signs on ebay.

weirdly elusive, so far I've heard italian, french and even english bottom brackets lol
