Not (Just) Another Clockwork..(1993) Updated 25/07/10 page 3

Cheers guys!!!

Took her for a gentle spin today and it left me grinning like a loved up teenager! She feels quick and quite lively! I can't wait to get her on some proper singletrack! ;)

I have a question probably aimed towards brocklanders023, but I suppose anyone with experience of Clockworks. Is this fork known for being flexy? It seems to track nice but under braking there is a very noticable front wheel judder! :? If this is usual for these forks then it's just a little quirk of the bike and all good.. if it's not though I'll have to try to figure out what's causing it..

(before anyone says so.. no it's not a loose headset  )

Someone call?   From my experiance the original forks can be quite flexy. Can feel a bit strange but compliments the 'alive' feel of the frame IMO.

Very nice - the full orange paint looks good - compliments the purple!

Thanks! I think so too!

Haha your super hearing is working well I see!

That's what I wanted to hear! They feel really nice, positive but still with some forgiving flex. The combination of the fork and Flexstem seem to do a great job at isolating the smaller jolts from my upper body (and importantly my dodgy spine). So much so I'm already considering ditching the fugly seatpost. Like I say it was only a little un-nerving under heavy (front) braking, which is no problem.. I'll just brake less! ;)

I was actually pleasently surprised by the Flexstem not having used one before. The flex wasn't that noticable, i.e. not off putting at all. But I could definitely feel the ride was smoother on my upper body than a normal rigid set up, which is exactly what I was hoping for! :D

I now can't wait to get her on some proper flowy single track! I think that is where she will really come alive! :D

On a completely unrelated note..

That 30min ride yesterday has highlighted one thing.. after 8 months off a bike I definitely have not got a cyclists posterior anymore! I'm f***ing sore today! :?

I've changed a few parts on this recently so I took some pics while out on a ride this afternoon and thought I'd post a little update.

Main changes have been the purple USE post, NOS Concor Light saddle and X-Lite bars. I found the shock post that I was running before wasn't actually doing that much for my back and the rigid post sheds a ton of weight! The saddle is a damn sight more comfy than the Bonty one I had on before! I know the bars aren't totally period correct but I'm used to 760mm+ bars these days so the extra width of these feels a bit more natural.

I've also added some orange Fibrax brake pads which are a whole lot quieter than the stock DiaCompe pads and, well, they match the paint!

These X-Lite crank caps cost me WAY more than they should have but I think it was worth it for that finishing touch! ;)

I do like purple ano!!! ;) Finally found that damn Cog Hog! (thanks Charlieboy2:cool:

A couple more pics with the colour coordinated flowers! :D

And a token arty one for good measure! ;)
