Forks are all good - as checked out by his Halfords trained cycle mechanic mate. :facepalm:

And it's definitely an early nineties Marin Bear Valley as he's checked it out against the retro bike sites (presumably not this one).....maintaining it's a BV even after I'd sent him a pic of a genuine one.

There is some originality about it - the "airlite" sticker on the rear stay
