Does anybody know anything about Panaracer Smoke tyres in 700x45c size?
Would a NOS one be worth anything?

cheers

I have a 1993 diamond back overdrive comp frame lying around at the moment.
This was an early hybrid which I believe was discontinued shortly afterwards.
These used the 700 wheel, and as I recall I remember seeing catalogue images with the 700 panaracer smokes on them.
Will dig up a few pics if you like.

Yes the Diamond Back Overdive (Deore) and Overdive Comp (Suntour XC Pro) both came with 700 x 45 Panaracer Smoke tyres. You could say they were one of the first 29er bikes. I have two Comps that were my cyclo cross bikes back in the day. I never realy used the Smokes and still have an almost unsed set. From memory it was a good tyre on the back but not much cop on the front. I expect they would not be worth a huge amount as people with 29er bikes want a wider tyre and most hybrid bikes from BID could not fit tyres that wide. Both my frames have had spells as ride to work winter bikes and are still going strong. One still has its original paint and is looking tired the second has had a matt black powder coat and I thinking about retro building it with XTR M900 and using the Smokes.

Tried to sell a pair recently.
Almost NOS, but no luck
Ended up giving them to a mate for a pub bike he was doing up.
Now if you had a set of the 26 inch version they would be queuing up for them.
