NOS and perfect apparently

I’ve been slowly replacing mech’s in my collection with NOS examples so this seemed a decent deal. Apparently it’s Never been used and so is in perfect condition.
Must be some of the worst storage marks ever then, and on the inside of the cage somehow too..

You'd be disappointed if you wanted NOS.
Surprising he's got high 100% feedback although all I could see was as a buyer, so negative is not possible.

Seems none of youse got the memo. 6400 was the first gruppo where they made the bits then ran an angle grinder just a tad. The trick was to not go too hard and not for too long, but all the best components from this time had a brief encounter with abrasive machine tools so as to be NOS but not look too obviously so.

exactly what I was thinking - akin to buying those jeans with the knees missing. I do have a completely unmolested genuinely NOS one of these btw - if anyone wants - PM me.

If shimano had done the distressing, it would be a lot better than this.

This one has been mounted on a bike and then thrown down the road.

Why has it got back into the right box?
Either poor shifting as the pivots are now sticky and parallelogram is misaligned, or the PO couldn't bear the damage, so he's bought a new one, put the damaged one into the box and stuck that on the shelf in his shed
(surely it's a 'he').

Over the years I've had hundreds of customers bring me damaged parts in the replacement's packaging.

Usually they tell the story correctly, occasionally they don't
