Norco Java (w/ Syncros kit)

Nice find. Never heard of the Java - I would assume it was part of the line up around the same time as the Mocha, but probably with a higher end build and maybe a higher end frame material.

I get a chuckle out of guys wanting big bucks for a 30 year old bike on CraigsList. Some poor sod was selling a beautiful Kelly locally with lots of bling bits and couldn't even get $500 for it.

Ugh… with a lot of time and elbow grease, I finally completed cleaning off the Syncros kit of whatever yellow stuff was painted on the logos, as well as some sort of clear spray coated on top of it and the entire black surface of everything. First tried some goo-gone, which is useful for sticky glue residue and general grease cleaning, then some mineral spirit thinking maybe it was paint, but neither did anything. Out of desparation I gave acetone (nail polish) a try… BINGO! :D

Salvaged almost all the logos on the the seat post and bar. For the cranks and stem, I gave up and peeled the vinyl as they are easy enough to replace and I was just tired, both my hand/arms, as well as the smell of the acetone. Wiping off the clear spray from the crank arms & stem body was more than enough work as it was.

Re:

Good nab!

I kicked the tires in it to, but couldn't fork the $$$ out for the crankset alone.

You'll do well tho selling off the bits you don't want.
