That depends A LOT on your budget and riding style.
If you want lightweight, funky flat pedals, try these
If you're not fussed on weight, but have a big budget, try these. I used to use them when I raced DH (and thankfully didn't have to pay full price for them!).... Awesome pedals.
Or, if you're on a budget but still want a great set of flat pedals, then you won't go far wrong with a set of Wellgo V12 copies (sealed bearing), like these.
As you can see, there is no one specific 'best' pedal. Recommendations will vary greatly and different people will swear by different pedals. I wouldn't pay too much attention to people's suggestions because what works for them may not necessarily work for you. However, out of the 3 pedals I've listed above, the Wellgo ones offer the best value for money and are really well made to boot

I'd say go for some DMR V8 to start with. I prefer the DMR as they have the grease port on and are better finished that the copies that Wellgo make but they feel similar in use.
They tend to suit all bikes, retro or not as that style of pedal has been around forever. They are good for town bikes as they're not too big but also good for XC and downhill stuff as they grip really well.
I went to some Superstar flat pedals in the end for my Pitch Pro but all my other bikes have V8's on them, grease gun once or twice a year and they will last forever.
i'vce ridden about 45 miles on my V8 copies and i am getting rid of them. I personally don't like the feel - its feels almost as if your standing on 2 poles and just isn't comfy on my feet.
until i can find something better, i'm going back to my old triple traps!! really comfy & roll really smoothly. can't ask for anything else!
First post! I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for but I recommend Eggbeaters. They are excellent at shedding mud and can be rebuilt. I use the standard ones but there are models with more platform if you wish.
