(Non retro) Giant XTC SE, hack wheels, LARGE CB Alu frame...

haribo

Old School Hero
2006 Giant XTC SE – complete bike

Bought second hand a few months ago fairly cheaply (£140) as a fixer-upper hack bike for my brother who made noises about MTB-ing but has since lost interest. I have subsequently lost interest in her and she’s now just taking up space. It’s in used condition but frame is in good shape apart from chain marks on stays. Spec from what I can remember:

Marzocchi MZ Comp fork
MPH disk brakes
Truvative crank/chainrings
Alivio front mech
Deore rear mech
Deore shifters (9 sp)
Wheels – Rodi rims/standard Shimano disk hubs
Giant ‘A1’ stem/bars

Good:
New front disk
New Inner tubes
No dings or dents in frame

Bad:
Now noticed rear disk is warped
Brakes/gears work as far as I can tell (never ridden her in anger) but assume require adjustment
Needs a clean!
Could do with new bar grips
Rims – valve holes have been gouged at for some reason (?!) but are functional
Needs pedals (or can supply some nasty plastic ones just to get you going)
Shifters – indicator doesn’t work on one shifter (could be easy fix but haven’t taken them apart)

More details and pics to follow this eve when I get back from work. I think it’s a medium but will try to take some measurements too.

£100

Hack disk wheelset:

Front: (modern) Syncros ‘Big Box’ rim, Shimano Deore disk hub.
Rear: Unknown rim (RDM?) laced to standard Shimano disk hub, good cond SRAM 9 sp cassette.
Never used these wheels, front is true, rear is not but maybe can be retensioned and trued? No skewers. Now surplus to requirements and just taking up space. Bought front S/H for £25 plus postage.

£30

Claude Butler ‘Stone River’ Alu frame LARGE!

Prob roughly 6-7 years old. Black, inc bottom bracket. Very good condition, 7005 Aluminium, no rear disk mount. I have measured the seat tube and it comes up at between 21”/22”. May have cheapo crank/rings and mechs that were on this frame, if so will include.

£20

All items are collection only from Croydon area, possible delivery/meet half way within reason. Pics to follow this evening when I get home from work. Cheers, Andrew

I'll explore all possible non-posting options first unfortunately but will let you know if I draw a blank. Cheers, Andrew

Hi

Would you be willing to meet 1/2 way between Croyden and Peterborough (straight up the A1) for the XTC ??

Jason

Thanks for your interest. I'll leave it for a little while longer as I'd really rather it was collected. Also, the only way I'd consider that would be if the bike was paid for in advance. I've been very honest in the description and I think the price is pretty reasonable. Anyway, I'll see how it goes...
