I havent used my Minewt in 7 months and foolishly didnt top up the battery.I tried to charge it last night and the red light went on as normal but went green after 40mins(indicating a full charge). When I plugged the battery to the light it wont switch on.Is the battery fubar? The unit is only a year old and used a handful of times.

Try charge/discharge a few times & it should return to full capacity, this applies to all LIon & Lipo batteries. If this type of battery swells up, it is Fubar.

Edit. Never store a battery fully charged.

Re:

Its gone back to the shop and being replaced with the newer model.Apparently I was told its a software glitch and quite common on early batches of this model and Niterider are replacing all models with this problem as long as they are within the 1 year warranty.

Re:

Have to disagree about storing a battery fully charged , esp LiON/LiPO, best way to kill them is store them discharged .

L Ion & Lipo batteries should never be stored FULLY charged is what I said. They should be stored @ 40%-50% charged, this is the state of charge when you buy a new battery, L Ion batteries should also be discharged fully at approx every 30 cycles to maintain battery health.

IF you wish to store your batteries at any other state, feel free as its your money being wasted.
