Bought this from the tip at the weekend, it's got to be the best find I've had all year. Amazing what people chuck out, Forks will go nicely with the Pro Flex frame I've got stashed away. Anyone know roughly what year any of it is?

Re:

Fork looks like a Crosslink, had some on my '97 857.

My local tip donates all their bikes to charity and won't sell any of them (even though the money raised could still go to charity) :(

Thanks guys, yes the Rockhopper is nice but I got it for the forks really. I've got a 757 frame so I think they should go ok with that.

Think that's a '96 (A1 Alu). It's definitely '96 or earlier. From '97 'Specialized' moved to the downtube, with model name on the toptube, and the Rockys were steel.

Re:

Great find. You might want to check whether the fork will fit your profiles frame, as the measurements are quite specific for the fork set up.

possibly (likely?) being thrown out because it was 'hot' ...

i would doubt it, my city is very afluent and the bikes that get thrown away can be insane. i bought from the tip last year and trek madone circa 2015 with full dura-ace. i paid £80. the lady in a 18 plate 100k range rover dropped it off, her son went to Aus to get a job and she was clearing his items he no longer wanted.

every week at out tip you see bike like that spesh above, not many folks have to time, money or enthusiasum to repair old bikes. its just us bunch who do.

peace.
