Funny the things you spot. There I was with my lad in a little cafe by the canal at Shardlow, near Nottingham/Derby, and to get to the loos you have to go through the cellar (don't ask!!) and what should be in the cellar but this little beauty. Turns out the husband of the cafe owner bought it in Beeston for under £100. Nice bargain! Not the best kit on it (a smattering of original XT), but 731 tubing nonetheless. Interesting as mine's Columbus CromOR.

no - it's some dirt in where the lugging fits over the tube!

I would have offered to buy it but to be honest a) I have one already  b) it's too small

What a great spot. Thinks like this always make me wonder what people have tucked away, almost waiting for someone to recognise the intrinsic value, taken home and cherished.

731...

Don't see many of them around compared to the cromor version. Cost an extra £100 at the time, about half a pound lighter, made to order and recommended for lighter riders.

Combo of seriously stiff 753 rear end with more forgiving 531 front end. Don't think he made too many of them.

Had mine renovated by Dave last year. It had a hard life the 3 years I lived in Manchester with time to ride in the Peaks twice a week but I always stuck with it. Original spec was usually 732 XT. Mine got updated through the years as stuff got worn out.

I happened to have the camera on me as it was a sunny day with my lad by the canal and it's quite pretty around there :D

Really nice!

My Yatesy is a 731 too, when I get some spare time I need to fit the period Project Twos and remove the RST forks.
