newer vs older full sus bikes

I've been riding a 5" travel Fisher Cake for 4 years now and it is as good as any other bike I've tried, and they have been around since 2003.

For years bike designers were working to make better full sus frames. Fantastically the non-bob shocks came along and....fixed/assisted the poorer designs.

But this meant that allot of big companies stopped working on designing better full sus bikes because they could rely on the shocks to fix the poor engineering.

The new Santa Cruz Lt that uses a revised Vpp rear sus design actually uses:

Fox Float R.

ie the rear sus design is so good it isnt using a pro-pedal/non-bob design shock.

Just think that in time a really great sus design could potentially have no shock at all.....(um just like they were trying to disign before).

Things are getting better and better

My 1996 RTS-2 didnt miss a beat throughout mountain mayhem this weekend; and believe me I gave it a spanking

the problem with something like the santa cruz mentioned above is all the bearings! my mate had a blur 3years ago. the bearings wore out in 6months & cost £90 to replace!
several mates on orange patriots & sub5s, 5s, 2years & more on the same set of bearings & some of those guys are mega mileage loggers.
all quality suspension frames require quality shocks. you cant get anything like the rebound & dampening characteristics through other "frame only" means.
simple. period. end of ;)

The Float R does have ProPedal, unless SC are using an OEM version without ProPedal.

Check out MBA July. They are saying that they are using the Fox float with the propedal switched to the off position.
