Retro Newbie
Just found out about this site and wanted to say hello. I live in the north west and ride trail centres and xc. Been riding about 2 years on a commencal meta and now a SC Chameleon hardtail. Just got a Raleigh atb out of the in-law's shed which i'm going to clean up. Luckily theres nothing missing on it. I will post a pic up on another post. Perhaps you could give me some info on it because I haven't got a clue what model/year it is.

Raleigh Race Replica

I think there were three versions, a cheapo, an intermediate and a top end. Basically the type of steel the frame was made off and the spec of componentry should give a clue.

Nice condition bike, hope you enjoy riding it.

There is a retro meet in the North West area this coming Saturday 21st. Look on the rides section, we'd be pleased to see you, you don't have to bring an old bike.

Welcome Damo

Hi there, nice Raleigh  As velo says there is a ride this Saturday at Farleton Fell near Carnforth/Kendal, you'd be most welcome to come along if you can make it. Look forward to hearing your plans for the Raleigh and seeing it come together.

Raleigh Team as mentioned earlier, in intermediate spec by the looks of it, the Front only Q/R wheel, non-vertical drop outs and non-Raleigh embossed seat stay tops (although earlier Montages with u-brake may have had this) mark it out as using the same Reynolds 501 frame as the Montage and Mirage.
Should have Suntour XCE components IIRC, high spec one had a 531 handbuilt frame and XCD6000.

Carl.
