Newbie - Orange Alu O

Dirt Disciple
Hi Guys,

Just found this site. I've owned my Alu O since new (circa 1991). Original paint, period MBUK stickers!!, period USE Ti seat post, original 135mm stalk, orginal cranks.

Its currently being used for commuter duties and is fitted with an 05 groupset (sorry!! :D ) and is rolling on rims from about 2000 (Hope hubs). I've just bought a road bike for commuting so will look at restoring it to original spec.

I still have the original wheels, rear short cage DX mech, DX thumbies, cantilevers etc

I'll post some pics soon.

Cheers

Steve

Pics of my Alu O. Its currently in commuter spec. I don't really want to respray it as I love the old mint sauce stickers!! What does every one think?

Great bike... Dont respray it, a life's story in the paintjob.

Id get a silver rear mech and a flat bar on it, but a great bike nonetheless.

Yep, I gotta agree with fingers on that - sometimes a paintscheme like yours shows more character than a new one. I've got a couple of bikes like that and I just can't bring myself to getting them repainted.

updated to v-brakes too ;)

I agree, it'll look a lot better with flat bars, but it depends on your back, really

Cheers guys, I'm leaning towards leaing it as is paint wise, my only concern is corrosion, its got lots of stone chips. I might just put some clear coat over the chips!

I'm going to try a flat bar, I've got an old one kicking around in the garage, just not so sure my back can take it :D I'll also re fit the original drive train if i can find all the bits, my garage is a bit of mess!

I wouldnt worry too much with it being aluminium.
